Non-contact displacement/position sensor

Principle of operation

The eddy current sensor KD-2306 measures displacements, positions or distances, without contact, between the sensor head and a magnetic or non-magnetic metal part, over measuring ranges from 0.5 to 60 mm. The measurement is characterised by an excellent resolution (down to 0.1µm), a very high frequency response (50 kHz) and is insensitive to the environment (wet, electro-magnetic, cryogenic, cutting oil, etc.). The analogue output signal (DC voltage or 4-20mA) is compatible with any analogue input from a PC, PLC or data acquisition system.

Calibration / adjustment

Calibration of the KD-2306 is performed at the factory, with the probe and the metal target of the application, under the measurement conditions (temperature, supply voltage, etc.). Optionally, calibration points can be specified to optimise accuracy. When installing the system, or when using a new metal target, the gain and offset of the amplifier can be adjusted to optimise the linearity of the response. Shims and micrometers for this purpose are optional.

OEM version

An OEM version of the KD-2306 is available for integration into machine tools and test benches. The sensors are identical. The electronics are in the form of a printed circuit board (PCB) for direct integration into the application to be equipped. See Documentation
