IMUs and 3D compasses
Inertial units, IMUs and electronic compasses are geolocation and navigation instruments equipped with inertial sensors (inclinometer, acceleromer, gyroscope). They provide two advantages:
- allow very precise geolocation and navigation in the absence of a GPS signal. Example: tunnel, drilling, at sea, in flight, etc ...
- Allow more precise position tracking than what GPS offers in tight spaces.
Applications: robotics, autonomous vehicle, construction machinery, agriculture.
Analogue or digital output
3D Electronic compasses
- Equipped with a 3-axis magnetometer
- Equipped with a biaxial inclinometer
- RS-232 or RS-485 output
Inertial angular rate sensors
- Simultaneous measurement in 1 or 3 axes
- Measurement ranges: 75 to 900°/s,
- Applications: robotics, agriculture
