IMUs and 3D compasses
Inertial units, IMUs and electronic compasses are geolocation and navigation instruments equipped with inertial sensors (inclinometer, acceleromer, gyroscope). They provide two advantages:
- allow very precise geolocation and navigation in the absence of a GPS signal. Example: tunnel, drilling, at sea, in flight, etc ...
- Allow more precise position tracking than what GPS offers in tight spaces.
Applications: robotics, autonomous vehicle, construction machinery, agriculture. Analogue or digital output
