Most compact slip ring for up to 10 circuit connections
The Short S-Series Slip Ring Assemblies are utilized for a variety of applications requiring up to ten circuit connections within minimum space. The slip rings are designed to mount on the end of a rotating shaft and make electrical connections to strain gages, thermocouples, or other sensors that have been installed on equipments rotating up to 12.000 rpm.
The Short S-Series slip rings are available in 4, 6, 8 and 10 circuit slip ring. Permanently lubricated bearings eliminate the need for routine cleaning and maintenance. The lightweight and compact design of these slip ring assemblies make them ideal for use in applications where limited space is available.
The slip ring brushes and rings are made of precious metals in order to minimize resistance variation and enable the assemblies to be used for low level instrumentation signals. For improved performance, miniature or spinning amplifiers may be installed between the sensors and the rotors. For space limited applications, some models have an embedded amplifier for strain gage based sensor, or thermocouple. For details, please refer to the overview below.
In addition, a stainless steel and aluminum case provides protection from dust and other contaminants.
Installation
The slip rings of the SHORT S Series (SHORT-S4, SHORT-S6, SHORT-S8, SHORT-S10) can be easily mounted to the end of the shaft with two screws. Sensor's wires can either be linked to the surface or to the inside of the shaft. In the second scenario, a wire groove shall be milled across the end of the shaft or adapter. Connections are made through color coded solder terminals located on the slip ring rotor and a connector on the slip ring stator. Redundant terminals are included to provide back-up connections.
No additional setup is required. The slip ring can be mounted and used in any application. Another great feature is the limited space it takes: 19 mm.
