Presentation

SMIC / SMIP series of precision single-axis inclinometers is designed for industrial applications requiring precision measurement on a limited budget. Extremely fine angle measurement is based on gravity measurement using a servo-controlled inertial table and an optical sensor. Accuracy is between 0.02% and 0.05% of full scale, depending on the measurement range, with a bandwidth of up to 5Hz and a resolution of 3.5µrad.

6 measurement ranges from ±3.0 to ±90.0° are available. The output signal is analog: ±5VDC, 0-5 VDC or 4-20 mA. Temperature sensitivity is extremely low: zero sensitivity is e.g. limited to 0.0015V/° over the ±90.0° range, temperature influence on slope is 100 ppm/°C.

The design of the SMIC / SMIP, whose sensitive elements are protected from shock and vibration by a dry damping system, enables precise, reliable measurement in harsh environments:

  • operating temperature: -55 to +85°C
  • shock limit: 500g
  • IP65 waterproof steel case

Installation

The SMIC/SMIP inclinometer is mounted on the application using 2 M5 screws. Electrical connection is made either via a connector (SMIC) or a 4-pin terminal block (SMIP) mounted on the inclinometer. Optional connectors and cables are available.
