Description
The RAIL series of capacitive accelerometers has been specially developed and validated for railway applications. Thanks to their measurement ranges, wide bandwidth, low noise and rugged design (shock limit: 5000 g) and IP68 sealing, these accelerometers can be used for vibration characterization, on-board diagnostics or infrastructure monitoring (rail, rolling stock, catenaries).
Electrical connection consists of an integral cable. The VariaPro Rail cable gland has been tested to DIN EN 45545-2 and 45545-3 fire protection standards.
RADOX TENUIS-TW 600V MM S cable is railway-certified and complies with the technical requirements of EN 50306 (particularly low temperature and high resistance to oil and fuel). It also meets the following standards:

Installation and operation
Output signal and installation
The amplified output signal of RAIL-x15LN capacitive accelerometers (±4VDC) is differential and independent of the supply voltage (6 to 40 VDC). With a 90gr IP68 hardened stainless steel housing (depending on version), an operating temperature range of -40 to +100°C, and shock resistance up to 5000g, these accelerometers are ideal for use in the harshest rail environments. Mounting is by screwing or gluing.

Standard cable (30 gram/meter; PUR; AWG 30; Diameter: 4.4mm) is available from 4 to 8 wires. The standard length (6m) can be adjusted as required (limit of around 30m). A LEMO, Jaeger, BNC, SUBD or other type of connector can also be added as an option. Also available as an option, for 2 and 3 axis versions, a trident wire layout to simplify connection to the acquisition system.
