Waterproof and submersible sensors
Submersible and waterproof transducers are used to perform displacement measurements in test basins or on samples placed in water or wet environments. Displacement measurements with waterproof sensors are carried out, for a large part of the tests, in an environment that is controlled in terms of depth, temperature, PH or pressure.
Another part of the submerged measurements are carried out in natural environments in fresh water for the monitoring of structures or bridges. In addition, displacement sensors for saline environments are available.
We offer deep water sensors for measurements in seawater for oil exploration, underwater sounding or for all work at sea related to the installation of energy generators such as wind and tidal turbines.
The level of protection of a submersible sensor and a waterproof sensor is divided into 3 classes :
Protection class | Immersion capacity |
---|---|
IP 66 | The IP 66 waterproof sensor is protected against sea water. They cannot remain submerged and can only withstand run-off water for a short time |
IP 67 | The IP 67 immersible sensor is protected against the effects of immersion to 1 metre for a limited period of less than a few hours |
IP 68 | The IP 68 submersible sensor can be held underwater at a depth > 1 meter. The maximum depth must be specified by the manufacturer of the submersible sensor |
Large depth | Sensors for applications in marine environments to a depth of 3500 metres or in fresh water for permanent immersion |
PM Instrumentation's submersible sensors :
- ** Single axis T-C force sensor** : stainless steel, amplified or mV : IP66 and IP 67
- ** Multi-axis force sensor**: IP67, IP68
- ** LVDT** displacement sensor: IP66 to IP68
- ** Linear inductive displacement sensor** : Stainless steel, amplified, IP 66 and IP 67, very deep
- ** Acceleration sensors**: 3 axis, 400g, IP 67, 10m water
- ** Pressure sensor**: Stainless steel IP67 and IP68
For each family of submersible or waterproof sensors, we specify their protection levels, type of environment (fresh water, sea water, polluted water), temperature, pressure and possible conditioning.
We also offer a full range of pressure sensors and LVDT displacement sensors for use in liquid waste processing and the production of highly toxic products.
Our sensors are used for monitoring, level or pressure measurement of acidic and toxic product containers in industrial waste treatment plants or in hazardous chemical manufacturing facilities.
