Customer
Pump manufacturer
Problem
To be able to measure the instantaneous power consumed by a pump at low and high speed, at no load and at full load, to compare it with the hydraulic power delivered, and to optimise the design, or to check its conformity in production and after-sales.
PMI Solution
Installation of a DRVL high-speed rotary torque meter directly on the pump drive shaft using two BKE couplings:
- simultaneous measurement of torque and speed
- Torque accuracy: 0.1% * Angular resolution: 0.25
- Angular resolution: 0.25
- Output signal: voltage, frequency or current
- 100% overload protection for transients
Acquisition / Visualisation via GSV-3USB module on PC.
Customer benefits
The comparison of the power consumed with the hydraulic power delivered by the pump (flow x pressure) determines the efficiency.
With this measurement solution, the customer was able to characterise the pump at a very large number of operating points and optimise the most critical operating points. It took very little time to get to grips with the measurement chain.
