Overview

Very high-precision force sensor

The force sensors in the 1100 series are, after reference sensors, the most precise in the range. With accuracies between 0.02% and 0.08% of full scale depending on the model, these sensors provide remarkable absolute precision, including at low and intermediate loads. They are thus particularly suited for calibration benches, force verification benches, and all test benches operating across the full force range. Measurement ranges span from ±1.5 kN to ±900 kN.

Design

The design of the 1100 series sensors is the result of 50 years of continuous improvement. High precision is achieved through rigorous strain gauge pairing with the sensing element, as well as expertise in manufacturing and calibration. The construction also features very high repeatability (< 0.01%) and long-term stability (static accuracy: 0.02% to 0.06%). The design is furthermore nearly insensitive to eccentric forces (< 0.05% / cm) and transverse forces (< 0.1%), and highly robust, with overload protection of 150%.

The operating temperature range is -55 to 90°C. Calibration is temperature-compensated between -10 and 45°C.

Installation

  • Bridge supply: 1-20 VDC

  • Installation 1: Tension only. The load is applied via swivel + nut. Sensor installation with base plate when the mounting surface has imperfections (see accessories). Screw types, tightening torques here
  • Installation 2: Compression only. The load is applied to the measurement surface. Sensor installation with base plate when the mounting surface has imperfections (see accessories). Screw types, tightening torques here
  • Installation 3: Tension/compression. The load is applied via a threaded rod + nut. Sensor installation directly on the surface. Screw types, tightening torques here

Signal Conditioning and Acquisition

The output signal of the 1100 series sensors is unamplified. It is possible to obtain a complete measurement chain, wired and configured specifically for the application, by integrating a Display, an Analog signal conditioner/amplifier with voltage or current output, or a Data acquisition system for PC or PLC with included acquisition software.
