Overview

The DA54 strain sensor is designed for the precise measurement of forces and strains in static and dynamic applications on presses, lifting equipment, tanks, steel supports, bridges as well as connecting rods or bases of production machinery. Stable, cost-effective, IP65 waterproof, the DA54 is also suitable for indoor or outdoor monitoring applications.

The DA54 consists of a fully wired strain gauge which, when the strain sensor is screwed onto the structure, is pressed onto the component to be monitored. The housing serves as a mounting frame for the strain gauge application. Technically comparable to applying a gauge to the structure, the saving in installation time is significant.

The measuring range is 1000µm/m. The measurement is characterized by high resolution (< 0.1µm/m), very low drift effects and a low response time.

Mounting and use

The DA54 is installed using 2 M6 screws. The bonding of the gauge to the test body is achieved by bonding the housing. Sealing is provided by a gasket on the contact surface and by the introduction of a resin after installation. For prolonged outdoor use, a silicone sealant may be applied.

The optimal position is obtained with an installation perpendicular to the loading direction, so that forces are transmitted through the housing. A longitudinal installation will maintain nominal accuracy for strains up to 1000 µm / m.

The strain gauge is mounted in a 1/4 bridge configuration. The output signal is 1.3 mV/V. The operating temperature range is -20 to +85°C. The excitation voltage is 1 to 10 VDC.
