Overview

High-performance load cell with flange mounting

The load cells in the 12x8 series differ from the standard 1200 range by their mounting method, using a flange rather than a central threaded hole. This mounting distributes the load across multiple fixing points and allows installation with lower tightening torques. The characteristics of this load cell series are similar to those of the 1200 series: excellent accuracy (0.05%), high robustness, extremely low sensitivity to transverse loads, and high measurement capacities (±50 kN to ±1.5 MN).

They offer a measurement accuracy of < ±0.02% of full scale. The 12X8 models provide very high precision, very low non-linearity, and compensation for non-normal or misaligned forces. They are available for tension/compression or compression-only force measurements.

Design

The selection of strain gauges, the construction of the 12x8 load cell, manufacturing expertise, and calibration ensure static accuracy and linearity of ±0.05% to ±0.12% of full scale depending on the measurement range, very high repeatability (< 0.01%), and long-term stability. The construction is also nearly insensitive to eccentric forces (< 0.01%/mm) and transverse forces (< 0.25%), and highly robust, with overload protection of 275%.

The operating temperature range is -55 to 90°C. Calibration is temperature-compensated between -10 and 45°C.

Installation

Installation is carried out using multiple screws on the base and the sensitive part of the load cell. Specifications for the minimum surface condition and screws to be used are listed in the detailed installation manual.

Signal conditioning and acquisition

The output signal of the 12x8 series load cells is non-amplified. It is possible to obtain a complete measurement chain, wired and configured specifically for the application, by integrating a Display, an Analog signal conditioner/amplifier with voltage or current output, or a Data acquisition system for PC or PLC with included acquisition software.
